I suddenly realized that I hadn't got round to writing up and posting my tasting notes from the Wetherspoon's Spring Beer festival, this was prompted by the fact that they've just started their autumn one

The line up for the current one looks OK, if only they hadn't tried to link every beer in some way to 1979, (the year that Wetherspoon's were established). As gimmicks go, it's relatively harmless unless you shudder at the thought of drinking a pint of "Boss Hogg."

I've just seen this petition link in a email newsletter from CAMRA, it seems that the BMA is urging the Government to impose increased taxation on alcohol and restricted pub opening hours, in a bid to stem the binge drinking culture.

If like me, you think that this will damage the responsible pubs, while not addressing the underlying problem, then please sign this No. 10 petition.

Had a great weekend LARPing at Maelstrom. It was such an intense event, that I got that weird feeling that I've only ever experienced before after being at a really good BiCon.

I had forgotten I'd been given permission to take today as leave as well but instead of doing something useful like clearing away my kit I've been take perverse pleasure at all the Emo and Angsty posts about character deaths at [ profile] lrpdrabbles.

I'm hoping I'll be able to show you what my attempt at growing a beard turned out like. I know a couple of people photographed me so with any luck I'll be able to find them online and then link to them.

Top Cop misses out on new job due to his Facebook page
BBC Story

I feel sorry for the guy, he should be able to be out about his lifestyle, but he's kind of dumb to go for a job, once he'd already been given a warning about the content. If I were him I would have waited for the matter to be cleared up.

*Or an intolerant employer.

As seen on [ profile] spikeylady and [ profile] hieroglyphe

I've seen this in other journals and thought it would be a valuable to me too.

All comments are screened initially, but will be unscreened by discretion. However, if you ask me to keep it screened, I will do. Anonymous is on if you want to make use of it.

Tell me what you thought of me this year, what I did that as good and what was bad.

Things you are happy about and things you are unhappy about, and why.

Perhaps recall a memorable occasion or remind me of something I shouldn't forget.

Once I have enough stuff, I'll collate the comments into a 'peer review', keeping all content anonymous, so you can see what you all think of me. I'll try and keep the bad as much as the good in there, but if anyone says anything too personal or mean or any secrets, I reserve the right to edit.

I'll make an addition. What would you like to do with me in 2008? Can be filthy.

Just got back from seeing my Mum for her birthday/early Xmas. I totally bottled having a talk to her about the problems she has with my lifestyle, she seemed so stressed and not just because of the move. Coping with my sisters and their loser boyfriends seems to be causing her a lot of problems but typically she didn't want to talk about it with me.

Back to work tomorrow, I'm kind of looking forward to it, though not sure why. Will have to find out if the library is open on Saturday, I'm due to work but I'm not sure it will be open.

I'm thinking of going to see I am Legend on Boxing Day, if anyone else is up for a visit I'll find suitable venues and times.
